I didn’t think I would finish the A to Z April 2024 Blogging Challenge. Writing a post every day for a month, except for Sundays, seemed impossible since I hadn’t written a post for the past two months. However, if I didn’t do the A to Z Challenge, I decided I would discontinue my blog.
I gave it a shot. My theme was Aging: The Good, the Bad, and the Tolerable. Gerontology was my nursing specialty. Plus, I was getting older. I would write what I knew. Why would I burden myself with a topic that needed extra effort? I mixed up my messages, including academic topics interspersed with a song, poems, and personal stories. As the weeks went by, the time it took to complete each post became less and I began to enjoy blogging again.
I visited the sites of the other participants. There were over 200 of us writing to the Challenge. Such a mixed bag of writing styles, topics, and post layouts—a learning experience to see how others structured their blogs. And, of course, I liked the extra attention my blog received from the other participants.
Three days after the last day of the challenge, I celebrated my 82nd birthday. I will have a lot of first person aging experiences to bring to my blog.
Here is a list of the April posts:
I’m so glad you took the A to Z challenge and are continuing to blog! I thoroughly enjoy and learn from your writings. Congratulations on completing the challenge and for continuing to share your wisdom and talent!

Congratulations on a job well done. I loved your informative posts, and the way you mixed up your personal stories with quotes from other sources. I’m turning 85 in a few months, so your topic was especially germane for me.
