By Marianna Crane
After a long career in nursing--I was one of the first certified gerontological nurse practitioners--I am now a writer. My writings center around patients I have had over the years that continue to haunt my memory unless I record their stories. In addition, I write about growing older, confronting ageism, creativity and food.
My memoir, "Stories from the Tenth Floor Clinic: A Nurse Practitioner Remembers" is available where ever books are sold.

I like it. It looks very professional, and there’s no nurse’s cap in sight. I just came across mine the other day. I was so proud to get the stripe, but then I never did wear the thing after graduation.

Somehow the public thinks of nurses still in a while uniform and a cap on our heads.

I love the cover of your book and the reviews from “notables” on Amazon. Curious how white uniform plus cap meant “nurse”. I was in the Navy Nurse Corps during the Viet Nam conflict and the cap was a required part of the uniform and more emphatic on the military uniform where the stripes on caps indicated rank.
